Priestly Vocations

Each year, more than 1,300 students—priests, seminarians, religious, and lay leaders—come to the University from over 85 countries. For those discerning and living out a priestly vocation, their time in Rome is more than study: it is a profound formation that shapes their entire ministry. Here they are immersed in the sacraments, strengthened by community life, and prepared academically, spiritually, and pastorally to return home ready to serve. These future priests carry with them not only the knowledge and skills gained at Santa Croce, but also a universal perspective on the Church—one forged in friendship and shared mission with brothers and sisters from every corner of the world. The fruit of this formation is seen daily in parishes, schools, missions, and dioceses worldwide, where Santa Croce alumni preach the Gospel, celebrate the sacraments, and shepherd souls with wisdom and compassion.

The Legacy of Knowledge and Faith: Support a Croce Library Digitization Project

The Challenge
The Santa Croce Library, located in Rome, Italy, a short walk from the Vatican, with its vast collection of 240,000 volumes, is a cornerstone of the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross. However, 40,000 resources are stored off-site because of limited expansion opportunities due to the discovery of ancient Roman ruins uncovered during previous efforts.

The Project
To address this challenge and preserve these invaluable resources, we are initiating a digitization project. This essential step will allow us to digitize periodicals and journals that take up significant space, ensuring continued access to these important texts. Inspired by St. Josemaria Escriva’s dream for this university to cultivate both mind and spirit, our vision for this digitization project is to take this first crucial step towards modernization.

Your Role
You can help make this vision a reality. By supporting the digitization project, you are advancing the educational mission of Santa Croce and supporting crucial research. You are contributing to a legacy of knowledge and Faith that will enlighten minds and inspire hearts for generations to come.

Will you make a contribution to help preserve the legacy of our library and the stores of knowledge it contains?
